Crate Training Can Be Easy

A dog crate or kennel should be your pet's den or special place from day one.

People often have trouble crate training a puppy because they do not make it part of the dog's life from the beginning of ownership.

If you choose to begin crate training an older dog because he is getting destructive, then you must make it a process.

Put your dog in the crate in a matter-of-fact way and allow him to smell around and get comfortable. When he is relaxed, close the door. Be sure he has a couple of toys to chew on in there. Leave for a few minutes while he is relaxed.

Do not allow him to come out of the crate without your cue, or he will come barging out in time.
