Dog Instinctive Behavior - Herding Instincts

Guess what, guys? It is not a myth that an Australian Shepherd or Border Collier, or many other dogs in that group, herd automatically without training.

My grandmother had a farm and two dogs who did this. They rounded up everything! Geese, cows, pigs, and ducks alike! The birds sure hated them, but they could not outsmart them.

Do they make good family pets? Absolutely yes, but keep in mind that Border Collies, Australian Shepherds, and all other dogs in this group NEED EXERCISE -- a minimum 2-3 mile walk per day (and some need runs and more). Border Collies especially. If you don't give them something to do, they WILL find something to do!

Choose your pets with wisdom.
