Dogs Are Not Children
Dogs are not children. Many people treat their dogs this way, though, and that can lead to many problems. It is both confusing and unfair to the dogs.
Dogs are like children, however, in that they need boundaries and leadership. They want a "pack leader" and they want to know what is expected of them.

It's important to remember that causing your dog to submit to you actually makes him happier and more relaxed. He becomes insecure if he believes the responsibility rests on his shoulders, that he is the one who has to run the show!
